April 04, 2007
Beijing Innofidei Technology has developed a mobile TV demodulator chip based on China's homegrown CMMB (China Multimedia Mobile Broadcasting) standard. Codenamed 1F101, the demodulator chip was reported to have met commercialization standards in sensitivity, power consumption, size, and cost. At present, both ZTE and Lenovo Mobile have reportedly unveiled mobile phones enhanced with Innofidei Technology's 1F101 demodulator chip. Terminal equipment makers including TechFaith Wireless, UTStarcom, Changhong, and OKWAP are expected to develop compliant products as well.

Meanwhile, China's State Administration of Radio, Film and Television plans to complete the construction of a CMMB field trial network in Beijing by June 2007 and finalize preparations for commercialization by the end of the year. Official launch of CMMB is slated for the first half of 2008, initially in the cities of Beijing, Shanghai, Qingdao, Shenyang, Tianjin, and Qinhuangdao.
