Sony, Samsung to Invest US$2 Bln in S-LCD for New LCD Panel Facility

Sony and Samsung recently announced that they will invest approximately US$2 billion at their joint venture S-LCD for a new LCD panel production line. The new facility, which will be located in Tangjeong, Korea, is expected to start mass production by autumn 2007, and it is projected to have an initial monthly production capacity of 50,000 units. The investment will be equally shared by Sony and Samsung.
