Lenovo announced that the company is going to open a new PC manufacturing line in the United States, according to the company's press release on 2 October, 2012. The plant—which is currently under construction near Lenovo's US distribution center in Whitsett, North Carolina—is slated for launch in early 2013. At the initial stage, the plant will house 115 staff and produce some of Lenovo’s latest products such as Think-branded notebooks, desktop PCs, tablets, engineering workstations and servers. Currently, the PCs that Lenovo sells in the United States are made at its factories located in Mexico and China. The plant is expected to give Lenovo a higher level of flexibility and customization to better serve its clients in business, government, and education sectors in the United States.
