Abstract

As widely anticipated by markets and most media outlets before the election, Donald Trump defeated Kamala Harris in the 2024 U.S. presidential election, securing 312 electoral votes to her 226, and became the 47th President of the United States. Simultaneously, in the Senate and House elections, Trump’s Republican Party gained majorities, holding 53 to 46 seats in the Senate and 213 to 204 seats in the House (as of November 11). This article examines four key policy focuses of the Trump 2.0 era: tariffs, employment, security, and international transactions.
