- With its efforts to push the development of TD-LTE (Time Division-Long Term Evolution), China Mobile recently reaffirmed that the company completed the goal of launching commercial networks based on TD-SCDMA (TD-Synchronous Code Division Multiple Access) in 656 cities across China, , the Sohu News reported on April 22. China Mobile stated that its subscriber base totaled over 20 million while its app store touched 110 million downloads by year-end 2010. In addition, fueled by 16.8 million new subscriber additions in the first quarter of 2011, mainly from rural areas, China Mobile’s total mobile phone subscriber base hit the 600 million mark as of the first quarter of 2011, up from 584 million subscribers at year-end 2010. Nevertheless, China Mobile’s ARPU (Average Revenue Per User) for the three months ended March 31, however, declined to 67 RMB (US$10.3; US$1 = 6.5 RMB), down from 76 RMB (US$11.7) at the end of December 2010.
