BSNL to Expand 3G Services by December 2010, Increase Subscriber Base by March 2011

Indian state-owned BSNL (Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited) announced on November 4, 2010 that the company plans to expand its 3G services to 760 cities in India by December 2010, according to The Times of India. It is reported that BSNL currently offers 3G services in 640 cities throughout India. In a bid to boost the company's mobile communication business and even the fixed-line sector, BSNL has introduced a promotional plan, dubbed pyari jodi. As per the plan, BSNL projects to increase its 3G subscriber base by 2.5 million by March 2011.
