Toshiba to Launch Glasses-less 3D TVs in Japan in December 2010

announced at a press conference that the company plans to release 3D LCD
(Liquid Crystal Display) TVs that do not require viewers to wear special
glasses, according to an October 4, 2010 report by the Wall Street Journal. It
is reported that Toshiba's new 3D TVs, with screen sizes of 12-inches and
20-inches, will hit the Japanese market in December this year. The Japanese
company aims to offer 2,000 units of the new glass-less TVs per month. Toshiba
also demonstrated a 56-inch prototype version, but the release schedule for
larger models is yet to be decided. The price-tags for the 12-inch and 20-inch
models are projected to be approximately 120,000 Yen (US$1448; US$1=82.9 Yen)
and 240,000 Yen (US$2895), respectively. The timetable for the new 3D TVs' overseas
release is yet to be announced, according to the same source.
