Qualcomm to Set Up R&D Center in Taiwan

Qualcomm and the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) of Taiwan signed a LOI (Letter
of Intent) at the 2010 Taiwan Business Alliance Conference to establish a
R&D center in Taiwan, according to a September 21, 2010 report by the
Economic Daily News of Taiwan. The new R&D center is projected to be dedicated
to advancing mobile phone chipset solutions. It is reported that through the
establishment of a R&D center in Taiwan, Qualcomm will be able to
strengthen the relationships with its local partners, such as HTC, Compal,
Inventec, TXC, Wintek, and Compeq. Building a R&D center in the island is also
projected to help Qualcomm venture into the Chinese market, according to the
same source.
