Taiwanese LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) panel
manufacturer AUO announced on September 17, 2010 that the company and LCD TV
manufacturer TPV have decided to establish a LCM (LCD Module) joint venture in
Manaus, Brazil, according to the China Times of Taiwan. Dubbed Brivictory
Industria de Eletronicos, the new company is projected to engage in panel
module assembly and sales business. With a capital of approximately US$16
million, the JV is reported to be 19% owned by AUO and 81% owned by TPV.
AUO and TPV have established a joint venture in
Poland in March 2010, and the company is reported to be focusing on LCM
production and TV set ODM (Original Design Manufacturing), according to the
same source.
