Taiwan's MOEA Approves Chinese BOE's Investment in Taiwan

Investment Commission under the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) has
approved on July 29, 2010 the application filed by Chinese TFT-LCD (Thin Film
Transistor-Liquid Crystal Display) maker BOE Technology to invest in Taiwan and
to purchase Jean's LCD TV business and assets, according to the Economic Daily
News of Taiwan. Jean is an affiliate of Tatung Group, and the company focuses
on contract manufacturing display panels. BOE is believed to be the first Chinese
LCD firm to set up a branch in Taiwan. It is reported that BOE will remit
NT$310.85 million (US$9.74 million; 1US$=NT$31.9) to Taiwan in order to
establish its Taiwanese branch.
