LG, Sony in Discussion over LCD Panel Supply Deal

Display confirmed that the company is currently in talks with Sony over an LCD
(Liquid Crystal Display) panel supply contract, according to a July 27, 2010
report by The Korea Times. It is reported that Sony is planning to adopt LG's
IPS (In-Plane Switching) panel-making technology in Sony's LCD TV. Samsung has
been supplying Sony with LCD panels since 2004, and currently, approximately
50% of Sony's LCD panels are purchased from S-LCD, a joint venture established
by Samsung and Sony. LG Display expects to begin providing 30-inch level panels
to Sony starting from early 2011.
