July 23, 2010
A
long-term agreement has been signed between Taiwanese TSMC and UK ARM on July
20, 2010 for optimizing the implementation of ARM processors on TSMC process
technologies and for developing physical IP, according to the Commercial Times
of Taiwan. As part of the collaboration, the two companies are expected to
develop physical IP covering embedded memory products and standard cell
libraries targeting TSMC's next-generation 28nm and 20nm processes.
Furthermore, under this partnership, TSMC and ARM are expected to collaborate
on producing ARM-embedded processors to be used in wireless communications, mobile
computing, tablet PCs, and high-performance computing.
