- Taiwanese WiMAX carrier Vee Time, formerly
known as Vee Telecom Multimedia, has rolled out its commercial mobile broadband
services by means of Motorola's WiMAX technology, Taiwan's Economic Daily News
reported on April 15. Vee Time's services feature digital media convergence of
TV, voice calls, and mobile Internet. The carrier holds a WiMAX service license
for central Taiwan and has launched services in Taichung City and County as
well as Kinmen County in its first-phase network deployment.
- Canadian Aperto Networks, a wholly-owned unit
of Tranzeo Wireless, said that it has landed a US$1.5 million purchase order
for WiMAX equipment by an unspecified Indian carrier, according to an April 22
press release. It is understood that the equipment will be used for the
expansion of the Indian carrier's existing broadband services, aiming to
include enterprise users in its customer portfolio. Shipments are expected to
begin soon and continue through the current year.
