RIM, Chinese Software Developers Team Up for BlackBerry Applications

Canada-based RIM (Research In Motion) recently revealed that the company has established a team in China, in cooperation with Chinese application developers, in a bid to launch new applications for use in BlackBerry Smartphones tailor-made for the Chinese market, the Bloomberg reported on April 16. Names of these software developers, however, are yet to be made public. In addition, RIM has doubled the number of applications on its App World site to 6,000 since October 2009, according to the same report. Aside from China Mobile, China Telecom recently also entered into an agreement with RIM, whereby the Chinese telecom operator will begin to sell RIM's BlackBerry Smartphones in May 2010. Other than China, RIM is also projected to expand its market presence in Indonesia and India by launching several Smartphone models such as the BlackBerry Bold and Tour series, along with various applications used on them, according again to the Bloomberg.
