- Intel India and Indian telecom operator BSNL
announced on March 23 a joint initiative named Meri Manzil Mera Pehela Kadam,
which seeks to bridge the digital divide in India by means of WiMAX technology,
India's Economic Times reported. This initiative, making use of a wide range of
connectivity solutions from BSNL and devices including netbook and nettop PCs
based on Intel processors, is projected to drive PC and WiMAX broadband
penetration across the rural regions of India.
- Malaysian WiMAX solution provider Green Packet has landed
a contract with Taiwan's Global Mobile for the supply of its Intouch Connection
Management solution to the Taiwanese WiMAX carrier, according to a March 23
Malaysia Star report. Moreover, it is reported that the deal marks the third WiMAX
solution supply deal that Green Packet has reached with Taiwanese WiMAX
carriers.
