Taiwanese semiconductor manufacturer TSMC and
LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) panel maker AUO recently announced plans for
workforce expansion in 2010, according to a March 12 Liberty Times report. TSMC
plans to hire about 2,400 full-time staff catering to the demand of production
expansion. For the new full-time positions, the company said that it will consider
its existing contract employees first before launching external recruitment. These
2,400 job openings are not included in the number of 3,000 engineers that TSMC
planned to recruit earlier in January this year.
At the same time, AUO announced that it will
hire 2,500 workers in 2010, targeting recent college graduates and people with
over two years' work experience. In addition to the LCD R&D personnel, AUO
also plans to boost staff recruitment for its solar energy and OLED (Organic
Light-Emitting Diode) businesses, according to the Liberty Times report.
