Sony to Cease Production, Sales of OLED TVs in Japan
February 28, 2010
Two years after the company launched its first
model, Sony has decided to cease the production and sales of OLED (Organic
Light Emitting Diode) TVs targeting the Japanese market, Reuters reported on
February 16. Nevertheless, Sony said that it will continue to sell OLED TVs in
other overseas markets. Sony expects to
bring the sales of OLED TVs in Japan to a close as the current inventory is
depleted. Still, the company plans to maintain related R&D and manufacturing
operations for the overseas markets including North America and Europe.
