ZTE Wins LTE Deployment Contract from US Commnet Wireless

Chinese telecom equipment provider ZTE said on
January 29 that it has obtained a contract from US regional operator Commnet Wireless
for the deployment of a trial LTE (Long Term Evolution) network, Xinhua News
reported. Commnet Wireless, a subsidiary of Atlantic Tele-Network, is expected
to leverage ZTE's core dual-mode CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access)/LTE
platform in its trial network, which is projected to cover parts of Arizona,
New Mexico, and Utah. Meanwhile, in order to help fund the project, ZTE are in
talks with the Navajo Tribal Utility Authority for future collaboration on
seeking the US Broadband Stimulus funding from the National Telecommunications
and Information Administration.
