Japanese mobile phone maker Kyocera announced on November 24 that the company will shut down its mobile phone manufacturing plant in Tianjin, north China, bringing an end to its mobile phone business in China, the Sohu News reported on November 25. Currently, the transaction is still pending for the regulatory approval though. Should the plant be closed, Kyocera's mobile phone production operation in Tianjin will be transferred to its Malaysian production base. Kyocera is the last Japanese mobile phone maker to withdraw from the Chinese market.

 

Meanwhile, Kyocera also plans to enlarge its solar energy business in Tianjin on the same premises where its mobile phone plant is currently located. However, Kyocera is yet to officially confirm the decision, according again to the Sohu News.
