Wistron to Establish LCD Optoelectronics Industrial Park in Zhongshan, Guangdong

company Wistron confirmed on November 2 that the company plans to build an LCD
(Liquid Crystal Display) optoelectronics industrial park in Zhongshan,
Guangdong Province, according to Commercial Times of Taiwan. Wistron has signed
a three billion RMB (US$441.2 million; US$1=6.8 RMB) agreement with Zhongshan
Torch High-tech Development Zone to that purpose. The project is expected to
cover an area of over 740,000 square meters, with the first-phase investment
estimated at 2.3 billion RMB (US$338.2 million). Construction on the first-phase
project is slated for commencement on December 20, 2009 and completion in June
2010. It is estimated that Wistron's project will be able to attract about 30
upstream and downstream companies and create over 30,000 jobs. Main products to
be manufactured in this industrial park are expected to consist of LCD TVs, LCDs,
and front-end supporting products.
