ZTE to Build Viettel's 3G WCDMA Network in Vietnam
June 14, 2009
Chinese telecom solution provider ZTE has signed
a contract with Vietnamese military-owned telecom operator Viettel to deploy a
3G WCDMA (Wideband Code Division Multiple Access) network using ZTE's SDR
(Software Defined Radio) solutions in Vietnam, according to a June 10 SinoCast
Daily Business Beat report. Deployment of the network is slated for completion
by September 2009. Prior to signing the agreement, Viettel had performed HSPA+
(Evolved High Speed Packet Access) capability trials in CSL's SDR-based all-IP
commercial network in Hong Kong, also built by ZTE, as well as related HSPA+
projects and assessments on 64 users carried out in ZTE's Shenzen R&D labs.
According to the SinoCast report, Viettel currently accounts for around 40% of
Vietnam's nationwide telecom market.
