Nokia to Resume WCDMA Phone Sales in Korea
April 10, 2009
On April 6, Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia announced its return to the Korean market by launching a new WCDMA (Wideband Code Division Multiple Access) phone, codenamed Nokia 6210, the Korea Times reported. The Nokia 6210 will be sold through KTF - Korea's second largest mobile phone operator - with a price tag of 396,000 Won (US$295.6; US$1 = 1339.5 Won).
All the Nokia 6210 models will be manufactured in Masan, South Gyeongsang. Nokia has been manufacturing mobile phones in its Masan plant since 1984, producing nearly 400 mobile phone models so far. Nokia, which used to focus on GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications) technology, left the market in 2003, as the market was dominated by CDMA phones manufactured by Samsung and LG
