HP to Set Up New Plant in Chongqing, China

HP recently announced that the company and the Chongqing Municipality have entered into MoU (Memorandum of Understanding), whereby both parties will jointly establish a new plant in Chongqing, Western China, Nikkei reported on October 27. Covering an area of 200,000 square meters, this new facility, the company's second plant in China, is slated to begin operations in 2010, primarily manufacturing notebook and desktop PCs, according to the same source.

Deliverables will be available to customers in Chongqing, and further to customers in the government, public, and retail sectors throughout China. Further details regarding the investment value were not yet known though. Aside from its Chongqing plant, HP also has a manufacturing plant situated at Shanghai.
