Samsung to Inject US$528 Mln in AM-OLED Panel Production Expansion

On June 30, Korea-based Samsung SDI revealed in a filing with the Korean stock exchange that the company plans to invest 551.8 billion Won (US$528.0 million; US$1=1,045 Won) by mid-2009 to boost the production volume of AM-OLED (Active Matrix Organic Light Emitting Diode) panels, Reuters reported. With the investment, Samsung expects to boost its monthly output of two-inch AM-OLED panels by six times from 1.5 million units at present to 9.0 million units.
