Taiwan WiMAX Licensees Establish Consortium of Mobile Broadband

Four Taiwanese WiMAX licensees Global Mobile, Vastar Cable TV System, Tatung Telecom, and First International Telecom (FITEL) have established a WiMAX industry promotion organization, the CMB (Consortium of Mobile Broadband), Taiwan's UDN (United Daily News) reported.

The organization of the CMB was supported by TCA (Taipei Computer Association). Taiwanese PC brand Acer and major PC contract manufacturer Quanta Computer also played significant roles in the process, according to the UDN report. Rosemary Ho, president of Global Mobile, was made the first chairperson of the CMB.
