- According to Sina News, Samsung has recently launched the first batch of commercial TD-SCDMA phones, codenamed SGH-L288. It is also reported that Samsung has secured a TD-SCDMA phone order from China Mobile, according to Sohu News. The number of the phones to be delivered, however, was not yet disclosed. According to Sina News, Samsung's TD-SCDMA phones will be provided for the staff of the Beijing Olympic Games.

- Shanghai Mobile, a subsidiary of China Mobile, recently announced that it plans to add 666 TD-SCDMA base stations by the end of August 2008, in anticipation of the imminent Beijing Olympic Games, Shanghai Daily reported. The accumulated number of base stations in Shanghai will grow to more than 3,000 by year-end 2008, Sina News reported.
