Weekly TD-SCDMA Update April 7-13

Taiwanese mobile phone maker Dopod revealed that the company will launch new high-end TD-SCDMA Smartphones based on Windows Mobile operating system, with price tags ranging from 5,000 RMB (US$714.1; US$1=7.0RMB) to 6,000 RMB (US$856.9), aiming to tap the increasing demand for high-end phones, Sina News reported.

According to the same report, Dopod's TD-SCDMA devices have passed the tests carried out by China's MII (Ministry of Information Industry). Application for the network access license, however, is still pending official approval. The entire procedure is expected to take about 45 days.
