Abstract

The Olympic Games are being held in Beijing, China from August 8 to August 24 2008. If a curve were used to show the economic effect and market opportunities created by the Olympic Games, the high point of this curve would undoubtedly be in the three months before and after the Games. As for industries which are directly or indirectly related to the Olympic Games, such as construction materials, the service sector, tourism and IT, although these industries will see opportunities due to the Olympic Games, prospects are affected by the downturn in the global economy, high material prices and inflation. This report will analyze the impact of the Beijing Olympics on the IT hardware industry from a Taiwanese perspective.
