Abstract

This research report presents forecast and recent quarter review of shipment volume, value, ASP, manufacturer volume and value rankings, shipment by product mix, production location, shipment destination, and business type. The content of this report is based on primary data obtained through interviews with IP camera makers. The report finds that the global IP camera market continued to grow in the first half of 2016, thanks to the higher adoption of smart home surveillance and security services in Europe and North America. However, the earthquakes that struck Japan in April decimated Sony's supply of image sensor chips, nullifying the growth momentum of the Taiwanese IP camera shipments. Therefore, shipment volume of the Taiwanese IP camera industry only saw a single-digit growth of 8.0% year on year in the first half of 2016. The adoption of smart home is anticipated to continue upholding consumer IP camera shipments in the future, with Google, Apple, and Amazon jumping into the market. Overall, it is projected that the industry's shipment volume will grow 13% year on year in 2016.
