Abstract

This report presents worldwide mobile phone market forecast, including a review of recent years and a forecast for the period 2009-2013, with breakdowns by system technology and region. It also examines mobile phone market volume and market share by system technology for all the world's main regions separately, including North America, Latin America, Western Europe, Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa, Asia Pacific (including Japan). The report finds that the worldwide mobile phone market's growth slowed considerably in 2008. Mobile phone market volume in Europe and North America is expected to continue on its downward trend in 2009. As for emerging markets, it is anticipated that African market volume in 2009 will be lower than in 2008. Meanwhile, market volume in China and India is expected to continue to grow on a steady pace in 2009 and thereafter. Regarding system technology, 3G/3.5G mobile phones' share of the total global market volume is forecast to reach around 40% in 2013.
