Abstract

Regarding global telecom operators using WiMAX (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access) technology for network deployment, Taiwanese makers pay close attention to Sprint Nextel. Not only is Sprint Nextel the telecom operator with the largest investment in WiMAX worldwide, the company's suppliers also include Taiwanese companies, and therefore the company has a considerable impact on shipments of these Taiwanese makers. The Taiwanese makers, which have entered Sprint Nextel's supply chain, originally expected that starting in March 2008 they could be shipping smoothly. However, in the first quarter of 2008, Sprint Nextel experienced problems in construction of its backhaul network, and announced that it would be delaying the schedule for the XOHM service. Shipment of Taiwanese makers will be pushed back as well.
