Subscriber Growth Worldwide WiMAX subscriber base reached around 1.7 million in 2007, with an annual growth rate of 129% and sequential growth exceeding 20% In terms of the annual growth rate, Asia posted the highest rate in 2007; in terms of subscriber base, North America had the highest subscriber base in 2007 Spectrum Usage The spectrum allocated for WiMAX is still focused in the 2.5GHz and 3.5GHz bands, making up 90% of the total subscribers; 2.5GHz and 3.5GHz will be the main WiMAX spectrum invested by new entrants in the future Adoption of Technologies Pre-WiMAX subscribers accounted for 68% of the total, 16d for 13%, and 16e for 19% in 2007 Pre-WiMAX subscribers growth is surpassing 16e subscriber growth Type of Operators WISPs (Wireless Internet service Provider) have been the most aggressive investors for WiMAX, and have achieved the highest accumulated subscriber base worldwide North American pure WiMAX operator Clearwire currently has the highest WiMAX subscriber base worldwide Following ISPs?aggressive investment in WiMAX, traditional telecom operators are actively developing their WiMAX businesses to regain their foothold in the market Equipment Suppliers In 2007, Motorola had the highest subscriber base, at 52%, followed by Alvarion and Samsung, which accounted for 12.5% and 10.9% of the total subscribers, respectively
