Abstract

The prevalence of Symbian systems in worldwide, Asia-Pacific, and Western Europe markets led to its high market share in these corresponding regions in 2007, while Blackberry dominated a large share in North America. Blackberry, Palm, and Windows Mobile focus on enterprise markets, with Symbian and Linux stressing on consumer markets. Major mobile phone vendors including Nokia, Motorola, RIM and Palm demonstrates their interests in different mobile platforms, overweighting consumer over enterprise markets. Taiwanese mobile phone makers emphasize more on Windows Mobile platform products, accounting for 85% of the total worldwide Windows Mobile OS shipments. ODM-branded share of total manufacturing production saw year-on-year declines from 2004 to 2006. EDGE dominates much of Taiwanese mobile phone markets.
