Abstract

This report presents shipment volume and value forecast and recent quarter review of the Taiwanese WLAN industry. The report examines WAN NIC and SiP shipment volume, value, ASP, as well as shipment volume and share by technology, by function, and by interface. The content of this report is based on primary data obtained through interviews with WLAN component makers.   The report finds that WLAN NIC and SiP shipment volume fell 3.3% year on year in the second quarter of 2016, due to the lackluster sales of desktop PCs, notebook PCs, tablets, and smartphones. By function, WLAN with 1x1 and 2x2 antenna configurations were the majority in shipments. The industry's shipments are projected to have totaled 139.5 million units in the third quarter, down 2.3% year on year. With major home appliance vendors introducing Wi-Fi modules in their products, the Taiwanese WLAN industry is anticipated to see a greater growth momentum in the future.
