Panel, IC to Be Key Areas for Chinese LCD TV Makers' Development

Panels and controller IC are the most important components of LCD TVs, however these are all provided by manufacturers outside China. China greatly lacks qualified manufacturers in these areas. Although color television manufacturers such as Skyworth and TCL have started to get involved in the panel industry, their capabilities are still limited. Thus, Chinese LCD TV makers are moving towards the upstream industry whilst also putting more effort into improving the visual and audio quality of their products. Hisense, Skyworth, Xoceco and TCL are all strengthening their technological development in these areas.

Multimedia Functions Will Become Future Development Trend of LCD TV Products

Following the gradual development of digital television in China in recent years, especially with its inclusion as part of the eleventh Five Year Plan, LCD TVs are no longer only for watching television programs, but are starting to be used for multimedia entertainment. Therefore, LCD TVs with recordable hard drives and built-in set-top boxes, and wireless internet televisions are becoming increasingly popular. Given such developments, Hisense, Skyworth, Xoceco and TCL all view multimedia functions as a future development trend for their LCD TV products.
