Abstract

This research report presents shipment volume and value forecast and recent quarter review of the Taiwanese desktop PC industry. The report includes desktop PC shipment volume, value, ASP, shipment by tier and maker, product mix analysis, as well as breakdowns by customer, shipment destination, business type, and assembly location. The content of this report is based on primary data obtained through interviews with desktop PC makers. The report finds that the Taiwanese desktop PC shipment volume climbed up 8.3% sequentially to stand at around 15.07 million units in the third quarter of 2013, mainly due to the replace demand in commercial markets as Microsoft will cease to support Windows XP OS beginning from April 2014. In the fourth quarter, however, Apple's iPad Air and iPad Mini are anticipated to crowd out the traditional desktop PC sales as more consumers are putting tablets on the top of their purchase lists. It is projected that the industry's shipment volume will decline 5.1% sequentially to around 14.30 million units.
