Abstract

Looking ahead to the fourth quarter of 2013 and the beginning of 2014, although medium- and large-sized datacenters are near completion, demand for server systems is expected to remain stable. In addition, Taiwan has completed the bidding process for 4G spectrum at the end of October 2013. Aside from the existing telecom operators, entrants like Ting Hsin International Group and Hon Hai Group also won the bids. If 4G services are kicked off in 2014, the need for deploying high-speed base stations will generate the demand for server rooms and data centers. This is anticipated to considerably inject new growth momentum for server systems. Hence, it is estimated that Taiwanese server system shipment volume will top around 1.26 million units in the fourth quarter of 2013, up 10.6% sequentially, while its shipment value will arrive at about US$1.44 billion, up 10.5% sequentially.
