Abstract

In the fourth quarter of 2012, the Taiwanese server industry's shipment volume grew 6% to 1.32 million units, thanks to a strong seasonal demand in the second half of the year and the demand from data centers, government agencies, financial and banking institutions, etc. Overall, rack-mounted servers remain the mainstream products, taking up over 60% of the shipment volume. Due to the higher base period in the fourth quarter of 2012, it is projected that the industry's shipment volume will see an 11.6% sequential decline to 1.16 million units in the first quarter of 2013. However, Google's Asia-Pacific data center in Taiwan is expected to bolster Taiwanese server industry's shipment in 2013.
