Abstract

The Taiwanese server shipment volume increased 9.3% sequentially to approximately 1.24 million units in the third quarter, posting the greatest quarterly growth so far in 2012. This is mainly due to an increase in enterprise IT spending and the growing replacement demand, as stimulated by Intel's new platform Romley and Microsoft's Windows Server 2012 OS. Besides, branded vendors' total solutions to cloud computing services also helped prompt shipment volume in the third quarter. It is projected that the industry's shipment volume will continue to rise, reaching around 1.28 million units for a 3.2% sequential growth in the fourth quarter. Looking ahead to 2013, as new data centers are anticipated to commence operations around the world, it is anticipated that the purchase orders will benefit Taiwanese server industry.
