Abstract

In June 2012, two leading operating system giants Microsoft and Google separately launched their own-brand tablets, dubbed Microsoft Surface and Google Nexus7. Since then, in addition to Apple's iPad market dominance, tablet branded vendors have been experiencing the impact brought by those new tablets. This report examines the meanings behind Google and Microsoft's entrance into the tablet arena and provides insight into their subsequent effects on the tablet industry as a whole.
