Abstract

This research report presents shipment volume and value forecast and recent quarter review of the Taiwanese desktop PC industry. The report includes desktop PC shipment volume, value, ASP, shipment by tier and maker, product mix analysis, as well as breakdowns by customer, shipment destination, and assembly location. The content of this report is based on primary data obtained through interviews with desktop PC makers. The report finds that the Taiwanese desktop PC industry's shipment volume and value which saw sequential declines in the fourth quarter of 2011 continued to experience sequential drops in the first quarter of 2012 mainly due to HDD and labor shortages. Nevertheless, despite the impact of the European debt crisis and the replacement of old and new platforms, the distribution of Ivy Bridge and demand for high-end models stimulated by new game releases have enabled the Taiwanese desktop PC industry to expect sequential growth in the second quarter of 2012. It is projected that the industry's shipment volume will begin to bounce back in the second quarter and grow steadily into the third quarter of 2012.
