Abstract

In the fourth quarter of 2009, Taiwan's server industry saw improvement, as the economy gradually recovered and cloud computing continued to develop strongly. Taiwanese server full-system and barebone shipment volume in the fourth quarter of 2009 is estimated at 728.900 units, up 1.2% year-on-year and 1.3% sequentially. Furthermore, with server brands and Taiwanese ODM (Original Design Manufacturing) companies continuing to tightly control inventory levels, supply/demand imbalances declined. The only two factors that negatively affected the industry were shortages of server communications chips and labor shortages in China.
