Abstract

In the second quarter of 2009, the ongoing global financial crisis continued to affect the global IT industry and the resulting global recession still haunted the server industry. As for the demand side, global enterprises continued to take a cautious stance in IT spending and end-market demand for sever products also have been affected. Most enterprises have either deferred IT hardware replacement to extend use of server systems or tried to improve existing equipment's utilization levels with the adoption of virtualization technology. As for the supply side, due to uncertainty over the global economic outlook in 2009, server brands and server contract makers have been closely monitoring their inventory levels in order to ease the supply-demand imbalance situation.
