Abstract

Affected by the global financial turmoil, enterprises have begun scaling down budget and spending. Anticipation of continuing economic downturn that started brewing in the third quarter of 2008 was fully manifested in the declines of IT spending worldwide in the fourth quarter. The Taiwanese server makers were also dealt a heavy blow by lackluster market demand. In the fourth quarter of 2008, the Taiwanese server system shipment volume dropped approximately 2.1% year-on-year and 3.7% sequentially, arriving at around 752,100 units.
