Abstract

Consumer confidence has been impacted by the US subprime mortgage crisis, causing a slowdown in the US manufacturing sector. Also, leading economic indicators in the United States have been declining. However, enterprise spending on hardware has remained stable. Taiwanese server full system and barebone shipment volume in the first quarter of 2008 is estimated at 771,300 units, up 8.3% year-on-year and 0.4% sequentially. With major brand-name server vendors further increasing their outsourcing orders for system products, Taiwanese server motherboard shipment volume in the first quarter of 2008 is estimated at 1.12 million units, representing 7.2% year-on-year growth and a 0.4% sequential decline.
