Abstract

In 2006, global PC market scale is expected to top 200 million units. Growth in emerging markets is anticipated to stimulate Taiwanese motherboard industry growth in 2006. Although shortage in Intel's chipsets, hard disks, and CCFL may affect Taiwanese notebook PC and desktop PC markets, the advent of peak season and enterprises' year-end procurement in the fourth quarter is likely to prod the Taiwanese desktop PC industry. Meanwhile, holiday effects and brand vendors' low-pricing strategies will continue to drive notebook PC industry growth. The Taiwanese server industry is also expected to benefit from enterprises' year-end procurement.
