Abstract

This report presents forecast and recent quarter review of Smartphone shipment volume, shipment value, and APS, and analyzes manufacturer volume rankings, shipment by maker, and price trends. Also provided are shipment breakdowns by system technology, operating systems, display, embedded Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and GPS, and examines production locations, shipment destinations, and customer portfolios. The content of this report is based on primary data obtained through interviews with Smartphone makers. The report finds that the Taiwanese Smartphone industry's shipment volume and value both recorded sequential declines but saw double-digit year-on-year growth in the first quarter of 2012. The industry's shipment volume and value growth rates are expected to experience further decreases in the second quarter of 2012. Nevertheless, it is anticipated that the industry will witness its shipment volume and value bounce back in the third quarter of 2012 and grow steadily throughout the second half of 2012.
