Abstract

This report presents shipment volume and value forecast and recent quarter review of the Taiwanese WLAN industry. The report examines shipment volume, shipment value, manufacturer volume ranking, and product technologies. Price trends, production locations, shipment destinations, business types, and customer portfolios are also examined. The content of this report is based on primary data obtained through interviews with WLAN makers. The report finds that Taiwanese WLAN NIC (Network Interface Card) shipments were lower than expected in the fourth quarter of 2011 owing to notebook PC shipments in the Greater China region, weakened economic development, and hard disk drive shortage caused by the Thailand floods. WLAN SiP (System in Package) shipment volume saw significant growth in the same quarter. Both WLAN NIC and SiP shipment volume is expected to drop sequentially in the first quarter of 2012.
