Abstract

Nokia has dominated the global mobile phone industry since late 1990s. However, with the emergence of touchscreen interface, Smartphones, and application software, competitors such as Apple, Samsung, and HTC have begun to attract much more attention than Nokia. In order to strengthen competiveness, Nokia announced in MWC 2011 the partnership with Microsoft and adoption of Windows Phone platform for its high-end devices. Cooperation between Nokia and Microsoft is expected to affect the mobile phone industry significantly. This report offers insight into Nokia's organization reforms, operations, and future product release plans, as well as Nokia's development strategies and impacts on the mobile phone industry.
