Abstract

This report presents shipment volume and value forecast and recent quarter review of the Taiwanese WLAN industry. The report examines shipment volume, shipment value, manufacturer volume ranking, and product technologies. Price trends, production locations, shipment destinations, business types, and customer portfolios are also examined. The content of this report is based on primary data obtained through interviews with WLAN makers. The report finds that Taiwanese WLAN NIC (Network Interface Card) shipment volume saw significant growth in the fourth quarter of 2010 thanks to the traditional peak-season demand as well as strong PC shipments and the increasing lineup of application products. WLAN AP (Access Point) shipment volume, however, dropped in the same quarter. Both WLAN NIC and AP shipment volume is expected to drop sequentially in the first quarter of 2011, affected by the delayed launch of new notebook PC platform.
